St. George man injured in Idaho motorcycle crash

DUBOIS, Idaho, Sept. 3, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man from St. George was flown to the hospital by medical helicopter after a motorcycle crash in Dubois, Idaho, Tuesday morning.

A news release from Idaho State Police said the crash happened just after 8 a.m., on southbound Interstate 15 at the 167 off-ramp, in Dubois.

Lee Backus, 59, of St. George, was traveling on a 2013 Suzuki motorcycle.

“Backus left the roadway and lost control of the vehicle and was ejected off the motorcycle,” the news release said. “Backus was wearing a helmet.”

He was transported by air ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

Idaho State Police officials were assisted by Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Clark County EMS personnel.

The crash is still under investigation at this time.
