ST. GEORGE, Utah, Oct. 18, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — St. George police said Thursday afternoon they have located a missing 3-and-a-half-year-old boy and he is safe.
The rapidly developing story saw St. George police announce at 4:30 p.m. that Brandon Stratton had been found safe. Officials did not say how or where he was found.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out in an effort to locate Brandon,” St. George Police posted on Facebook at 4:50 p.m. “He is safe, healthy, and happy.”
St. George Police Captain Mike Giles told gathered members of the media at an earlier news conference that Brandon was last seen sometime after midnight Wednesday night asleep at his residence in the 400 South block of Main Street.

“We received this report a little bit after 11 a.m. Thursday and began responding to do an initial investigation,” Giles said. “In situations like this when we have especially children missing, we call out additional resources immediately and begin a canvas of the immediate area around the residence, the neighborhood and begin to expand.”

Giles said a reverse 911 went out to the area so residents could be informed Brandon was missing.

Officials also notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the organization responded with resources and coordinated with police.

Giles said the situation did not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert.

“It is not confirmed we have an abduction; this is a suspicious circumstance, this is not normal, we would not expect the circumstances we are aware of in our typical missing children, however at this point we are still trying to verify if there’s an explanation, that negates abduction,” he added.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this story as information is made available.
