JUNEAU, Alaska, July 27, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The FBI has identified the Utah woman who died after suffering domestic abuse while on an Alaskan cruise ship.

The victim was 39-year-old Kristy Manzanares, of St. George. Federal authorities have a male suspect in custody, and have said they will announce charges on Thursday.

Manzanares was on the cruise to celebrate her 16th wedding anniversary with husband Kenneth and their three daughters, according to friends.

Manzanares was employed by a St. George real estate company. According to a biography on the company’s site, Manzanares was a Utah native who attended Southern Utah University. She had several daughters, and the website said she enjoyed playing golf with her husband.

Crew members found Manzanares dead on the Emerald Princess cruise ship at about 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to reports.

According to the CBS report, passengers told reporters she was part of a couple and traveling with a large group that included their children. A “murder mystery” dinner was underway when announcements related to Manzanares’ death came over the ship’s intercom system.

The Emerald Princess had left Seattle on Sunday for a seven-day, round-trip cruise.
