CEDAR CITY, Utah, July 26, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A state of emergency has been declared after widespread flooding in Cedar City Monday afternoon.
A tweet from Mayor Maile Wilson-Edwards at 5:45 p.m. said: “I am declaring a state of emergency here in Cedar City based on the flooding today. We have been out assessing the damage throughout the city and it’s extensive to private and public property. City crews will continue through the night assessing damage and assisting our residents.”
For anyone impacted by the flooding, an emergency Red Cross shelter has been set up at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints church building at 61 North 900 West in Cedar City. The city is also looking for volunteers to help fill sandbags. Please meet at the Iron County Road Department or at the Enoch City Road Department at 600 East in Enoch.
