ELWOOD, March 23, 2015 –  A call that came to dispatch in Brigham City from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon described a semi-tractor that had been stolen in the Portland area the night before.

The trailer which contained contained around 5,800 pairs of shoes with a retail value of around one million dollars was located by UHP at the Texaco truck stop in Elwood, Box Elder County.

The two suspects were apprehended and taken into custody without incident. They could not provide any documents to confirm their identities and provided SBI(State Bureau of Investigation) Agents with some vague information about how they had come into possession of the semi-truck and what they were planning to do with it.

Multnomah Country indicated that the surveillance video of the theft showed only a semi-tractor had been taken but when UHP located the tractor it was hooked to a cargo trailer.

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) was contacted and responded to assist with the follow-up investigation. Both the semi-tractor and trailer were confirmed stolen out of Oregon.

A search warrant was obtained and the trailer and semi-tractor were searched and they are currently working on getting the trailer and semi-tractor back to their rightful owners.

Immigration and Customs officials have been notified as it appears the suspects are undocumented and have extensive criminal histories including aggravated re-entry.
