WASATCH COUNTY, Utah, July 6, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Search and rescue crews assisted a stranded motorist who followed a Google “shortcut” and ended up stuck near Strawberry Peak.
Emergency dispatchers received a call at 12:39 a.m. Thursday from a 23-year-old man whose Toyota Tercel became stuck on the west side of Strawberry Peak, a social media post from Wasatch County Search and Rescue says.
The man had followed a shortcut between Springville and Vernal recommended by Google, according to the Facebook post.
“The driver was uninjured but required transport off the mountain,” the post says.
The rescue took about three hours.
