ROSE PARK, Utah, Nov. 2, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A Salt Lake City woman sitting at her kitchen table Tuesday night was hit by a stray bullet during a drive-by shooting.

Salt Lake City Police Department Detective Robert Ungricht said the shooting happened just after 9 p.m. in the area of 1000 N. Starcrest Dr. He said the woman was working on her computer when approximately six shots were fired at her house.

Ungricht said at first the victim thought the noise was fireworks, but then felt pain in her leg and realized she had been shot. One round had come through the front door and hit the victim.

She was not seriously injured, but a family member transported her to a local hospital, where she was treated and released.

The shooting is under investigation, Ungricht said, but they believe the incident was gang-related.

He said it doesn’t appear the woman has ties to a gang, so the wrong house may have been targeted.
