Structure fire in Ogden causes $70K in damages

OGDEN, Utah, July 14, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews battled a residential fire in Ogden Sunday morning that caused $70,000 in damages and also spread to a garage.

The Ogden Fire Department said in a series of tweets that crews were dispatched to the incident, at 1646 Ogden Ave., at 8:51 a.m.

A total of 17 firefighters were on scene from Ogden City and South Ogden Fire Departments. Crews operated in a defensive strategy on the garage and and offensive strategy on the residence.

Crews also worked to protect adjacent exposures, secure utilities and ventilate the structure, a tweet said.

The fire was extinguished by 10 a.m.

The home and its garage were damaged as well as two vehicles.

One resident is displaced as a result of the fire, officials said. There are no injuries associated with the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
