SUGAR HOUSE, Utah, Oct. 25, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was arrested for aggravated assault Monday afternoon after he allegedly attacked another man with a hatchet at a bus stop in Sugar House.

Officers booked Richard P. Romboy, 36, into jail for aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, carrying a dangerous weapon, threatening/use of a dangerous weapon while under the influence and several warrants.

The incident happened at a Utah Transit Authority bus stop at 2250 S. Highland Drive just before 5 p.m., according to Det. Robert Ungricht from the Salt Lake City Police Department.

Ungricht said the altercation began when the victim said Romboy was in no condition to get on the bus as he was too intoxicated. Romboy then allegedly produced the weapon, and the victim wrestled the weapon away from Romboy and threw it into the street.

The victim, who was not injured, left the area on a UTA bus. The bus was then located and stopped by officers, and the victim taken back to the scene to fill out a witness statement and identify the suspect, who had stayed at the bus stop. Romboy told the officers that he wanted to be arrested, Ungricht said.
