North Davis Fire responded to the area of 496 W. and 2650 North at about 8:15 a.m., and found a building with three units on fire, North Davis Fire Chief Mark Becraft told Gephardt Daily.

“We had large flames and smoke showing from the building,” Becraft said. “We struck a second alarm.”

“It was burning in three buildings and up through the attic,” Becraft said.

Becraft said one person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, and not transported. He said firefighters were grateful that all eight residents made it out safely, and firefighters suffered no injuries. He did say he wasn’t sure if all the pets made it out.

Volunteers from the Red Cross were on scene, offering the displaced help finding accomodations and other immediate needs.

Becraft said the cause of the fire remains under investigation by a task force, but he would estimate the damage at about $900,000. He said that as of right now, there is no reason to believe the fire was of a suspicious nature.

Gephardt Daily will have additional information as details are released.
