SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 14, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Former television pitchman “Super Dell” Schanze has set his sites on Utah’s top office once again.

Schanze on Monday filed a declaration of candidacy for the office of governor, declaring his party affiliation as “Independant (sic) American.”

He previously ran for the office in 2008 and 2010. In 2009, he ran for mayor of Saratoga Springs. All campaigns were unsuccessful.

A video that surfaced online in 2013 showed a paraglider pilot, identified by federal prosecutors as Schanze, chasing a barn owl in flight, kicking the animal and boasting about it. Schanze initially denied he was the pilot, then he told a judge that the video was made by an “anti-Christ homosexual who hates me.”

Schanze later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charge of harassing wildlife, and was sentenced to a year of probation.

Schanze first became known to the general Utah public through bombastic television ads he made to promote his business, Totally Awesome Computers, which since has closed.

The 2016 Utah gubernatorial election will take place on Nov. 8.
