Suspect arrested after report of shots fired in downtown Ogden nightclub

OGDEN, Utah, Aug. 25, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was booked into jail late Friday night and is facing multiple charges after police say he fired a gun inside the Kokomo Club on Historic 25th Street.

Ogden Police Lt. Chris Kovalsky told Gephardt Daily a call was received at about 11:30 p.m. reporting shots fired at the nightclub, at 216 25th St., in downtown Ogden.

When officers arrived, a witness pointed out the suspect, and police took him into custody without incident. Kovalsky said the man was carrying a gun.

The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, faces charges of possession of a firearm by a restricted person; discharge of a firearm by a convicted felon; and possession of a controlled substance.

No one was injured in the incident. Kovalsky said a shell casing was found and it appeared that the bullet when into the floor.

Crime Scene Investigators were assisting with the case.

Kovalsky had no details as to what led up to the gun being fired or if the gun went off accidentally.
