VINEYARD, Utah, July 3, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah County Sheriff’s Office has released limited information after a man was hit in the head with a piece of lumber from a construction site Thursday night in Vineyard.
Utah County Sheriff deputies responded to a 911 hang-up call at about 8 p.m. in the area of 36 S. Masey Court, a UCSO statement says.
“Upon arrival, the deputies located a group of adult males, and after interviewing them, determined the incident did not constitute a criminal offense. The UCSO deputies advised the men of potential issues and asked them to call for rides and leave the area.”
About an hour later, deputies were called back to the area about a man who was unconscious and had a head injury.
“Deputies arrived back at the scene and learned the male had been struck in the head with a 2×4 from a nearby construction site.”
Extra law enforcement agents were called in to search a large area of buildings under construction, and several roads were blocked during the search, the statement says. Parties involved and witnesses were interviewed, and a suspect was identified, whose name is not being released at this time, the Utah County Sheriff statement says.
“It appears to have been an isolated incident involving these parties; there is no danger to the public, and UCSO detectives are working to locate the known suspect in this matter.”
The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a laceration to his head, the statement says.
