Suspect detained after shots fired in Parleys Canyon road rage incident

PARLEYS CANYON, Utah, Oct. 25, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have detained a suspect after a road rage incident in which at least one shot was reportedly fired at a motorist traveling down Interstate 80 in Parleys Canyon Thursday afternoon.

A tweet from Utah Highway Patrol said troopers and State Bureau of Investigation Agents are in the process of booking Grant Newman Gutierrez, 23, of Park City, into Salt Lake County Jail. Gutierrez will be booked on charges of felony aggravated assault, felony discharge of a firearm, DUI, carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence, possession of a firearm by a category II restricted person and possession of a controlled substance.

A tweet at at 2:30 p.m. said troopers located Gutierrez and stopped him near Foothill Drive and Sunnyside Avenue following the incident.

No one was injured, officials said.

SBI Agents were called to the scene to conduct an investigation.
