Suspect in custody after armed robbery reported at Salt Lake City thrift store

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 4, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City Police officers responded to a call reporting an armed robbery late Tuesday night and, with the help of a K-9 unit, they had the suspect in custody a short while later.

SLCPD Lt. Sweeney said the incident took place at the Crossroads Thrift Center, 1385 W. Indiana Ave.

“The suspect intimated he had a gun,” Sweeney told Gephardt Daily. “He fled on foot, and the K-9 found him about a block away.”

The only information available overnight was that the suspect is an adult male and has been transported to jail. Lt. Sweeney had no details as to whether the suspect had a firearm in his possession when he was apprehended or if he actually brandished a weapon in the store.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as more information becomes known.
