CENTERVILLE, Utah, Nov. 8, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A suspected DUI driver crashed on Interstate 15 near Clearfield after a police chase Wednesday night.
A news release from the Utah Highway Patrol said multiple callers complained about a reckless driver heading northbound on I-15 beginning at Parrish Lane in Centerville at approximately 8 p.m.
The silver Hyundai Elantra was swerving, using all lanes and traveling at approximately 30 mph, then crashed into a concrete wall multiple times, but kept going, the news release said.
“Troopers caught up to the vehicle at Layton Parkway and followed it believing it was a medical problem initially,” the news release said. “After trying to stop the driver, the vehicle sped away up to 87 mph and crashed just north of SR-193 in the median, taking out about 200 feet of cable barrier.”
No one was injured in the crash.
“The driver is suspected to be DUI,” the news release said. “The driver was taken to a nearby hospital, to be checked for injuries and heavy intoxication.”
