WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah, April 29, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Official say four suspects were arrested after a fleeing incident on State Route 7 in Washington County.

The incident began after the suspect in the theft of a vehicle and firearm out of Ogden was located in Washington County, said a news release from the Sheriff’s Office. It was reported the suspect had additional weapons in the form of knives stolen from the home in his possession, and was possibly headed to Las Vegas, the news release said.

That suspect was subsequently identified as Lamalsikou Lowe.

The vehicle was located by a WCSO Sergeant, who attempted to conduct a traffic stop on southbound Interstate 15.

“The suspect stopped, and as the sergeant gave verbal instructions using the vehicle’s public address system, the suspect fled from the scene,” the news release went on. “The Sergeant terminated the high-speed pursuit after visual of the suspect vehicle was lost.”

Surrounding agencies were notified of the incident, including Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Mojave County and Mesquite Police Departments. The vehicle was located, unoccupied, in a St. George community near exit 2. Officers with the St. George Police Department reported seeing a second suspicious vehicle leaving the area, headed toward the St. George airport.

“A Washington County Deputy located the suspicious vehicle heading eastbound on SR-7 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop,” the news release said. “The vehicle attempted to evade pursuing deputies. After a high-speed pursuit on SR-7, Hurricane City Officers deployed spike strips in attempt to stop the fleeing vehicle.”

The spike deployment was effective in disabling the vehicle, and the vehicle was stopped near Sand Hollow Road in Hurricane. Law enforcement officers, with the assistance of the Washington County K-9, were successful in taking four individuals into custody for various charges.

Lowe is facing charges of evading — flee by vehicle, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle or firearm, possession of a weapon by a restricted person, drug and paraphernalia possession, and an out-of-state warrant.

Another suspect, Michael Thomas, is facing charges of evading — flee by vehicle, speed, and drug and paraphernalia possession, while two others, Cameron Patterson and Tajha Avery, are facing drug and paraphernalia possession charges.

All were booked into Purgatory Correctional Facility without incident.
