SOUTH SALT LAKE, March 31, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — One man is in custody and a second remains at large after the armed robbery of a Maverik station Saturday in South Salt Lake.

Police responded to the scene, at 514 W. 3900 South, at about 1:44 a.m. Sgt. Matt Oehler, SSLPD, told Gephardt Daily that one male remained outside as a second entered the Maverik station, brandishing a handgun, and leaving with a 24-pack of beer.

The two males fled the area, and the Unified Police Department responded with a K-9 unit, Oehler said. Arrested after the search was Alexis Payan-Martinez, 21, the suspected gunman, Oehler said.

The second male remains at large, Oehler said Saturday afternoon.
