ST. GEORGE, Utah, April 28, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Multiple SWAT teams and all available officers were called to the scene of a melee Sunday night at Red Rock Canyon School in St. George.

The school, at 747 St. George Blvd., is a residential treatment facility for young people, ages 12 to 18, who have psychiatric issues, according to the facility’s website.

The riot started between 8:15 and 8:20 p.m., according to Officer Tiffany Atkin with the St. George Police Department.

“There were a lot of kids fighting,” Atkin said, adding that there have been reports of injuries, but their number and severity are not yet known.

Authorities responded with a heavy police presence to contain and bring the situation under control.

“We’re trying to get everyone separated and find the instigators,” Atkin said.

Police gained control of the facility and were searching room to room in the event there were other injuries.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as information becomes available.

  1. Yet another disgusting example of treatment for youth in Utah . Much like Robert Lichfield and the rest of his goons who ran world wide association of specialty programs schools. Interesting how they sent swat in for this one yet the rest of us only left when the money ran out from my perspective the law enforcement in that area is just as dirt as Robert Lichfield and the rest of the human traffickers that made up WWASPS
