Two people wanted in connection with the shooting of 15-year old boy Sunday turned themselves into Unified Police detectives Tuesday.

Police say the two males, ages 17 and 18-years old, were wanted for questioning after reportedly being seen running from the shooting site Sunday afternoon.

Both teens who turned themselves in were released a short while later. Police say after questioning it was determined they had no role in the incident.

Two others were arrested at a West Valley City home Monday night. One of them has been identified as the alleged trigger man in the shooting, which left a 15-year old in serious condition.

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – March 30, 2015 – Gephardt Daily – Two of four suspects wanted in the attempted murder of a 15-year old boy in Millcreek Sunday are behind bars, after a Unified Police SWAT raid in West Valley City late Monday night.

According to Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal, the two male suspects were tracked to a home near 3676 West Bawden Avenue in West Valley City Monday afternoon.

Shortly after 10 p.m., the special weapons team moved in, arresting the suspected trigger man, Anthony Dulacruz Penegar, age 20, and an alleged 15-year old accomplice.

Lt. Hoyal praised detectives for Monday night’s arrests saying investigators had they had “worked tirelessly” to identify the suspects and determine their whereabouts.

Penegar has been booked into the Salt Lake County jail on Attempted Homicide charges, while the 15-year old was taken to the Salt Lake Detention Center, where he is being detained on rioting charges.

Two other suspects remain at large. It is believed that the shooting is gang related.

Unified Police say Sunday’s 15-year old shooting victim remains hospitalized in serious condition. He was gunned down just before 5 p.m. while he and friends were walking on 300 East turning east on 4090 South. A police statement said all parties were observed by witnesses to be throwing gang signs and yelling at each other which escalated into the shooting in the middle of the road in a crowded neighborhood.
