WEBER COUNTY, Utah, Nov. 2, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 51-year-old man died Friday when the truck he was driving down Powder Mountain Road went off the side of the road and into the mountain.

Lt. Cortney Ryan, with the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, said the fatal crash occurred at 6:42 p.m. as the man was driving a cement truck down from a construction area.

“We believe the truck experienced a mechanical failure,” Ryan told Gephardt Daily. “Probably the brakes failed.”

The Weber Sheriff’s Office and Weber Fire District responded to the crash and were on scene for about five and a half hours, Ryan said.

The road remained open.

The driver was from the Syracuse area, but his name is not being released pending notification of family.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
