SYRACUSE, Utah, Oct. 1, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The owners of a 16-acre corn maze in Syracuse are offering a $500 reward for information leading to the identification of a vandal or vandals who caused “substantial damage” after opening night Friday.

Black Island Farms Corn Maze and Harvest Festival posted on Facebook: “Someone came down and decided to take some of our equipment out on a joyride around the farm causing substantial damage to our event.”

The post goes on: “The front end of our cow train was smashed along with our big straw slide being torn and a decent amount of our corn being knocked down. We were able to repair the slide and cow train and they are both up and running.”

The corn maze, at 2075 S. 4000 West, is now open, and the owners are working to finish cleaning up the damage, most of which is at the entrance to the maze.

“We are thankful no one was injured in this incident,” the post said. “If anyone has any information or tips that can help us identify the person or persons responsible we are offering a $500 cash reward.”

Black Island Farms, a family business that was established some 50 years ago, moved to a new location one mile west of their previous site this year.

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact Black Island Farms on Facebook, email [email protected], call 801-825-6236, or contact the Syracuse Police Department on 801-825-4400.
