IDAHO FALLS, Idaho, Nov. 3, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man who fled officers in Idaho Falls Friday night was shot after an altercation with an Idaho State Police officer and died of his wound.

The deceased has been identified as Jesse J. Quinton, 35, of Idaho Falls. His next-of-kin has been notified, ISP said in a news release Saturday.

An ISP statement says police initiated a traffic stop at about 11:42 p.m. in the area of Northgate Mile and Lomax.

“During the traffic stop, the male driver fled on foot and was pursued by ISP,” the statement says.

“The pursuit ended with a physical altercation during which an ISP Trooper fired one shot from his duty weapon. Responding law enforcement officers on the scene quickly rendered first aid and the suspect was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.”

The Eastern Idaho Critical Incident Task Force is investigating this officer-involved shooting with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office as the lead investigative agency.
