RICHFIELD, Utah, Oct. 14, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 41-year-old woman died Sunday when the SUV she was driving slid off of State Route 24 and rolled.
A Utah Highway Patrol news release says Olivia Clark, of Teasdale, was eastbound on SR-24 in the area of milepost 20 near Richfield at about 5:11 p.m.
“Evidence suggests there was a deer in the road and the SUV’s driver appears to have swerved to the right to try and avoid the deer,” the news release states.
The SUV struck the deer, however, and swerved back to the left. The vehicle then rotated, slid off the left shoulder, and rolled.
Clark was wearing her seat belt, but suffered fatal injuries in the rollover.
A 2-year-old boy was properly restrained in a car seat in the rear of the SUV and had only minor injuries, according to UHP.
