SANDY, Utah, Nov. 7, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A teenage boy was stabbed Thursday near Jordan High School, and was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

Sgt. Jason Nielsen, Sandy City Police Department, told Gephardt Daily that the stabbing was reported at about 1:30 p.m., and took place at Dewey Bluth Park, 170 E. Sego Lily Drive.

The suspect in the case is also a male teenager under the age of 18, Nielsen said, adding that he is not releasing the boys’ ages at this time.

Nielsen said the incident began as an argument, then turned into a physical altercation.

“That’s when one of the teenagers stabbed the other,” Nielsen said. “The suspect teenager fled the scene. People with the other teen took the victim to Jordan High School, and that’s where we got the call from.”

Nielsen declined to say whether the suspect or victim were students at Jordan High.

The victim’s injuries are serious, but are not believed to be life threatening, Nielsen said.

No arrests had been made in the case as of mid afternoon on Thursday.
