SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Sept. 1, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — We’re only one day into September and the temperature has already tied the all-time record high for the month, officials said.

“We have hit 100 degrees Fahrenheit at Salt Lake City airport, tying the all-time record high for the month of September,” said a tweet from the National Weather Service at 3 p.m.

“We have only hit 100 degrees at SLC airport one other time in September: Sept. 8, 1979.”

A previous tweet from the NWS Sunday afternoon said: “The high so far today at SLC airport is 99 degrees which breaks the record high for the date. The previous record was 98 degrees, set in 1995.”

For Labor Day, increasing moisture will bring a threat of thunderstorms to Southern Utah, with gusty winds and brief heavy rain possible.

On Tuesday, moisture will increase the thunderstorm threat across southern and eastern Utah.

The temperature for the rest of the week in Northern Utah should be in the low 90s, dropping to the upper 80s by Friday and the mid 80s by the weekend.
