SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 30, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced its entertainment schedule for this holiday season.
The lists includes the famous Temple Square Christmas lights display, to be lighted on Friday, Nov. 29, at dusk, and dozens of ongoing concerts, featuring children’s and adults’ choirs, actors and other area performers.
Here’s the basic roundup:
Non-ticketed events
“The Holy Child,” 6 and 7:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle, Nov. 30 — A 30-minute musical featuring One Voice.
Children’s Choir. Begin your Christmas season by celebrating with us the birth of Jesus Christ. Geared for children. Free shows at 6 and 7:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle.
Choral Ensemble and other musical performances, Nov. 30-Dec. 23 at various locations. For listings by date and with more detail, click here. Admission is free unless otherwise indicated. Take the Stage!, 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. in the Assembly Hall — Various local artists including soloists, choirs, dancers, and storytellers perform.
Kids’ Interactive Show featuring Katie Higley, 6 p.m. in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building Empire Room — Former “American Idol” contestant creates a fun, interactive concert with the audience sing
Music and dancing, 6 p.m.-midnight in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building lobby — Dance along to various contemporary hits and enjoy a segment featuring the Stratford Street Big Band from 8-10 p.m.
Kids’ Sing-along, 7 p.m.-8 p.m. in the Assembly Hall — The sing-along features music from children’s movies.
“Prepare My Heart,” 7 p.m.-8 p.m. in the Tabernacle — a multimedia musical presentation featuring a choir of more than 200 young single adults. Their message focuses on the future — preparing for and navigating the new year with vision and inspiration.
Nashville Tribute Band (NTB), 8 a.m.-9 p.m. in the Tabernacle — NTB performs religious music that pays tribute to historical figures. The band has released seven albums and performed around the world.
Broadway and the Big Screen, 9 p.m.-10 p.m. in the Assembly Hall, a sing-along featuring popular somes from movies and musicals.
The events website also lists opportunities for the public to sit in on rehearsals by Bells on Temple Square rehearsals and to tour the Church History Museum, and to enjoy arts, crafts and music at the Family History Library, and to view holiday films in the Legacy Theater.

- “Savior of the World” in the Conference Center Theater, 7:30 Tuesdays-Thursdays and 2 p.m. Saturdays, now through Dec. 7, and Dec. 17-28 (excluding Dec. 25) — A musical based on the life of Jesus Christ.
- First Presidency’s Christmas Devotional*, 6 p.m. Dec. 8 — Speakers for this devotional will be chosen from among the leaders of the Church. * All available tickets have been distributed, but standby seats may become available. The standby line will form at the North Gate of Temple Square approximately two hours prior to the scheduled event start time.
- Christmas with The Tabernacle Choir* at Temple Square, featuring The Tabernacle Choir, Orchestra at Temple Square, and Bells on Temple Square, 8 p.m. Dec. 12-14 at the Conference Center. Singer Kelli O’Hara will sing and actor Richard Thomas will narrate. * All available tickets have been distributed, but standby seats may become available. The standby line will form at the North Gate of Temple Square approximately two hours prior to the scheduled event start time.
