SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah, Sept. 30, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Facebook post from Westlake High School in Saratoga Springs Monday morning said a threat on social media appears to be a hoax.

“There are social media postings that have been circulated around the community,” said the post from the Westlake Student Body. “The posting indicates that there was a threat made to the school. We have notified Saratoga Police and Alpine School District. The posting appears to be a hoax.”

The school conducted a shelter in place, as a precaution, the post said.

“We have an extra police presence at Westlake to help students and staff feel safe,” the post said. “Additionally, we are asking all staff to be outside by their doors to reassure students. Please feel free to share this information with others.”

An update on the post later Monday morning said the shelter in place has been lifted.

“School as proceeding as normal,” the follow-up said. “Thank you to our police officers and school personnel for handling this situation in an effective manner and for keeping our students safe.”
