SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 16, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Tickets are on sale this week for the touring production of “The Book of Mormon,” running Jan. 21-26 at the Eccles Theater.
Just a warning: If you really liked the book, the stage version may not be all you hope.
The show has made multiple previous tour stops here, so anyone who is interested probably already knows this 2011 musical comedy is by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of the gleefully and stringently irreverent South Park.
Parker and Stone, with songwriter Robert Lopez, tell the story of two earnest young men, elders Price and Cunningham, who attempt to preach the faith to the inhabitants of a remote Ugandan village. One of the missionaries feels the need to wildly embellish Church history and tenets in order to better engage his audience. The musical contains explicit language and themes.
Tickets to this Broadway at the Eccles musical go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through ArtTix. ArtTix subscribers can buy tickets now by clicking a link sent to their emails.
