Tooele City police warn of 2 mountain lion sightings

TOOELE, Utah, May 13, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Tooele City police are warning of two mountain lion sightings over the weekend.

Officials posted a social media warning:

“The Tooele City Police Department would like to notify the community of two reports of a mountain lion in city limits within the past several days.

“On Saturday, May 11, we received the first reported sighting in the area of Tahoe Street and Ontario Street. The second was on Sunday, May 12, in the area of Sterling Elementary. In both cases, the areas were checked by patrol officers, but the animal was not found.”

Those two locations are just over two miles apart. Sterling Elementary is at 135 S. 7th St.

Anyone who spots a mountain lion is warned not to approach the animal, but to contact Tooele County Dispatch Center immediately at 435-882-5600 #1.
