TOOELE, Utah, June 16, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 28-year-old man flown to hospital by medical helicopter in critical condition Wednesday morning after a crash in Tooele has died.

Tyler Strickland of Grantsville died from his injuries later that same day, according to a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol. There were no other individuals injured in the crash, the news release said.

The incident occurred in the area of mile post 16 on State Route 138 at approximately 7 a.m. A white Ford F-150 driven by Strickland crossed from the eastbound lane into the path of a Kenworth semi-truck in the westbound lane, which was driven by a 53-year-old man.

The white Ford collided with the front of the semi.

The highway remained closed for the morning for investigation and clean up.

Officials have not said if there were factors such as drowsy driving that may have contributed to the crash.
