Tooele Man Dies After Falling Off Peak On Mount Nebo

MOUNT NEBO, UTAH – August 15, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A Tooele man died after falling off a ledge while hiking Mount Nebo Saturday morning.

According to Utah County Sheriff’s Office, Gregory Bronder, 40, of Tooele was training with two other climbers in preparation to hike Mt. Rainier when he fell approximately 500-600 meters while crossing a saddle between two of the peaks.

Bronder’s companions tried to provide first aid but he succumbed to his injuries.

First responders, along with search and rescue teams from Juab County and Utah County arrived on scene and stayed with the men, while a Utah DPS helicopter was called in to airlift the victim and the two other hikers off the mountain.

Investigators from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said there doesn’t appear to be anything suspicious about the accident. Their investigation is ongoing.
