WASHINGTON TERRACE, Sept. 23, 2016, (Gephardt Daily) — The Weber County Sheriff’s Office wants residents to know that the areas of Washington Terrace that have been closed are now open, and the hardest hit areas have been cleared of any safety issues.
According to a news release sent at 7:30 p.m. Friday from Weber Sheriff’s Lt. Nate Hutchinson, residents may return and check the damage to their homes.
The houses with severe damage have been marked by the city building inspector. Residents are encouraged to follow the guidelines posted for their individual homes, the release states.
More than 400 volunteers helped clear the city. City administrators say they are grateful to everyone who volunteered their time in the monumental effort to clean up the area.
All green waste will continue to be accepted at the Weber County Transfer Station.
According to the release, power has been restored to most of the city. Crews are still working to make repairs in the areas that are still without power. Water and gas services also are returning to the city.
On Friday afternoon, Gov. Herbert and several Weber County commissioners toured the city and assessed the hardest-hit areas.
Sheriff’s deputies will continue to provide extra patrols throughout the city. Residents who notice any suspicious activity should call the Weber Consolidated Dispatch center at 801-395-8221.
