EMERY COUNTY, Utah, June 18, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Fire officials said late Sunday night that the Trail Mountain Fire has reached 40 percent containment after Saturday night’s rain showers and higher humidity Sunday. The fire has burned 13,710 acres.

As the relative humidity decreases, it’s possible there will be an increase in fire activity later in the week, the news release said, but for now fire movement is decreasing because of the containment line and a lack of fuel.

Firefighters are working to complete the containment line near the power plant, and utility companies will evaluate any possible after-effects of the fire in Meetinghouse Canyon.

“Some sections of the fire are entering the mop up phase, and firefighters will be putting out lingering heat, clearing, and rehabilitating roads,” the news release said.

According to officials, no further evening updates will be released unless fire activity increases significantly.

Closures: The Manti-La Sal National Forest has an area closure in effect around the fire. See a map and description of the area at:  https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/maps/5830.

Horse Canyon Trailhead, Indian Creek Campground, Little Bear Campground, Lower Little Bear Campground, and Riverside Campsite are closed.

Highway 31 is open.
