SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 2, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman was killed Friday evening when she fell into a moving TRAX train in Salt Lake City.

Carl Arky, spokesman for the Utah Transit Authority, identified the victim as Marie Gay Cardwell, 57.

Arky said the accident happened at about 5 p.m. at the stop at 400 South and 900 East. Officials viewed surveillance video to determine what had led to the accident.

Arky said Cardwell was standing near the yellow line, waiting to board the train, which was approaching at about 15 mph. She stumbled and fell into the train, Arky said. She died at the scene.

Cardwell had been having seizures and had been known to fall, Arky said, and this may have caused her to stumble over the yellow line and into the train.

She had been living with her husband in an assisted living center.
