SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 9, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in custody after police say he approached a semi driver parked in a lot, then demanded that the driver take the loaded semi to the suspect’s residence and leave it there.

The incident occurred at the Rite Aid at 190 N. 900 West, just before 12:40 p.m. Monday, the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

The semi-truck driver had stopped in the parking lot of the pharmacy when he was approached by the suspect, Ian Golden, 32.

“Golden made demands for the driver to drop his loaded semi at the suspect’s residence,” the news release said. “The driver believed he saw a gun in the suspect’s pocket and called for police.”

Golden then fled on foot. Arriving officers were flagged down by a couple who stated that their son was acting strangely. The son turned out to be Golden, who was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested for attempted robbery.

No weapon was found on Golden’s person, police said.
