SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 23, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A white pickup truck stolen out of Summit County rolled and hit a power pole at 1000 North and 1400 West late Saturday night, causing the closure of 1000 North in both directions until the scene could be cleared.
It was reported that a power line was arcing as a result of the crash.
The truck landed on its roof, but it wasn’t immediately known what caused the truck to roll.
The vehicle was empty when officers arrived and a woman was observed running from the scene.
Salt Lake City Police Lt. Scott Smalley said the woman is described as being in her late 20s, with a medium build, and 5-feet-3-inches tall.
According to Summit County Public Information Officer Kacey Bates, the 2013 GMC Sierra pickup truck was stolen from a residence in Summit County on the night of Oct. 17. The keys were in the truck, which was inside the home’s garage. The vehicle’s registered owner woke around 8 a.m. and found that the truck was gone.
Anyone who may have seen the truck between Oct. 17 and Saturday night, or who has any information about the vehicle theft or the woman who left the scene in Salt Lake is asked to call Salt Lake City police at 801-799-3100 or the Summit County Sheriff at 435-615-3600.
