HEBER CITY, Utah, June 11, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Heber City Police have arrested twin brothers believed to be involved in a nationwide cell phone scam involving iPhones.
HCPD officers were contacted by AT&T informing them of a nationwide cell phone scheme in which the two suspects were able to purchase iPhones at Best Buy and The Apple Stores in six Utah cities, and 27 stores, using their own names, but somehow billing someone elseâs account.
The suspects’ phones were recently pinged, and they were located at a hotel in Heber City.
Officers arrived at the hotel and found 27 iPhone 6 Plus cellular devices totaling $22,823.00 in stolen property.
Carlos J Angelista, 22, and twin brother Braian Angelista were arrested and booked into the Wasatch County Jail on second-degree felony counts of receiving stolen property.
AT&T reported it had been investigating the Angelistas for nearly a year, and the company’s total loss involving the brothers is $150,000.00 during that year.
