EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah, Jan. 18, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Two children in Eagle Mountain were sent to the hospital Sunday evening after the sled they were riding was hit by another vehicle.

According to Utah County Sheriff Sgt. John Kantor, the incident happened at 6 p.m. in a residential area when two children, ages 8 and 12, were being pulled on a sled behind an ATV.

“This is a dimly lit area and a vehicle driving by did not see the kids on the sled,” Kantor said. “The vehicle ended up hitting the sled and the impact threw the kids off, causing both of them injuries.”

Kantor said one of the children was taken by medical helicopter and the other by ground ambulance to area hospitals as a precaution.

Their current condition is unknown but Kantor said they are both expected to survive.

Neither alcohol or drugs appear to be factors in the incident.
