SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – October 4, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash on I-15 early Sunday morning after striking a concrete barrier.

According to Utah Highway Patrol, Steven Colgate, 27, of Cottonwood Heights, was traveling northbound on I-15 near 600 North in a red Ford Ranger when he drifted to the right and off the travel lane. Colgate entered the paved area of the 600 North off-ramp and struck the barrier at the end of the ramp.

Both Colgate and a female occupant, Callie Jones, 20, of St. George, were injured in the crash and transported in fair condition to IMC in Murray.

After an investigation, troopers believe Colgate was under the influence of alcohol and he was later arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Colgate was not wearing a seatbelt and troopers said the crash could have been significantly worse considering alcohol was involved and the driver was not restrained.
