SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 28, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Two students were arrested on charges of terrorist threats targeting Highland High School after a relative revealed an active shooter plot Wednesday night.
Salt Lake City Police Det. Veronica Montoya said someone had become aware of the plot and notified their police department.
“We searched their homes and did not find anything that could be used to actually carry out the plot, but it’s the threat of someone thinking about it and actively talking about it that is cause for concern,” Montoya said.
“We talked to them both, and they were both arrested and taken to a juvenile detention facility.”
Montoya did not disclose any details of the plot and the names of the juveniles will not be released due to their ages.
