WEST JORDAN, Utah, Jan. 13, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Two teen girls were hit by a vehicle as they crossed the street at 3420 W. 7000 South on Saturday night.

Sgt. J.C. Holt, spokesman for West Jordan Police Department, said three girls, all about 14 years old, were walking northward in the crosswalk when two of them were hit by a car.

Both of the girls who were struck were wearing dark clothing, and the area is not well-lighted, Holt said.

The driver stopped and was cooperating with police, he said.

The girls were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

“It sounded a lot more serious when it first came across,” Holt said, referring to the initial emergency call. “We got lucky on this one.”

Officials do not suspect impairment or other factors in this incident.

“It looks to be a lighting issue,” Holt said.
