TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, July 17, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people were transported to the hospital with serious injuries in the early hours of Friday after the Fed Ex semi they were co-driving went off Interstate 80 and rolled over.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Michael Gordon said the accident occurred at 2:36 a.m. at milepost 37 on eastbound I-80, when “the truck left the road on the left side and struck a delineator post in the median.”

Gordon said the truck was pulling two trailers, and both trailers and the cab rolled over.

Injured in the crash were a 77-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, but the trooper had no information as to which individual was driving at the time.

“The driver had to be extricated, and both people were transported by helicopter to the hospital,” Gordon told Gephardt Daily. “Initially, the driver was alive, but unresponsive. Neither one was using a seat belt.”

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information is made available.
