SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 3, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The U.S. Attorney’s Office of Utah is warning of a phone scam affecting residents.

“DEA is not calling you threatening to arrest you if you don’t immediately pay a fine,” said a tweet from the office Thursday afternoon. “Fraudsters are using fake names, fake badge numbers, aggressive tones, a spoofed caller ID and other scam tactics trying to get thousands of your dollars. Hang up.”

The Salt Lake City Police Department re-tweeted the warning, adding: “Heads up: we will NEVER call and demand payment for warrants or other citations. Stay safe and stay informed.”
