LEHI, Utah, Oct. 16, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Interstate 15 will be closed overnight in Lehi on Wednesday and Thursday for bridge construction, according to a Utah Department of Transportation news release.

Southbound I-15 will close Wednesday night between 2100 North and Lehi Main Street, the release states.

Northbound I-15 will close in the same area Thursday night.

The closures are scheduled from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. each of the two nights.

“During these overnight freeway closures, all traffic traveling in the direction of the closure will be detoured off I-15 and back on via Lehi Main Street, State Street, 2100 North, and 850 East,” the news release says.

“Drivers should allow extra time and expect delays along the detour route. UDOT encourages those planning travel during these closures to TravelWise by considering using alternate routes or adjusting their schedule.”

During the two overnight closures, construction crews will place beams for the new 600 East bridge over I-15 in Lehi, which is being reconstructed as part of the I-15 Technology Corridor project.

The project is widening I-15 from four to six lanes in each direction and is rebuilding the freeway with new concrete pavement between Lehi Main Street and State Route 92.

The project is also redesigning the interchanges at 2100 North and SR-92, adding a new frontage road system, and constructing a new bridge over I-15 at Triumph Boulevard, the release says. The goal is to improve traffic flow in this part of Utah County. Completion is scheduled for late 2020.
