SYRACUSE, Utah, March 18, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Transportation is inviting the public to a scoping meeting Tuesday, March 19, to discuss potential improvements to State Route 193 and Antelope Drive.

The meeting is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Syracuse Arts Academy, 2893 W. 1700 South.

Those who attend can learn about a State Environmental Study, set to begin soon, that will evaluate a potential extension of SR-193 in Syracuse and West Point.

“Through this study, UDOT will evaluate alternatives for extending the road to the west, providing connectivity to the future West Davis Corridor and potentially connecting to 4500 West,” the UDOT website says.

Another study will consider numerous improvements for Antelope Drive.

According to information from UDOT Region One, attendees will be able to speak with the project team representatives and comment on potential improvements.

  1. I am a 5-year member of the Syracuse Planning Commission and served as Chair in 2016 and 2017. Tonight is our regularly scheduled meeting. Because it is a PlanComm meeting, the two highest members of the Syracuse Planning Dept will also be in attendance. This means that the folks responsible for planning in Syracuse won’t be in attendance at the UDOT presentation regarding the two busiest streets in Syracuse. I would think that UDOT could have picked a better night to make a presentation involving planning in Syracuse.
