MILLCREEK, Utah, Aug. 25, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters responded to a garage fire in Millcreek on Saturday, and quickly knocked down the fire.
Crews were called to the scene, near 3900 South and 500 East, at about 8 a.m.
“It was a five-bay garage fire at the back of the home,” Mike White, Unified Fire Authority, told Gephardt Daily. “We had concern that there might be people in there. Crews went in, did a quick search, got a good fire knock down on it.”
The garage was behind a residence. Firefighters made sure the man living in the house was OK.
The garage had no vehicles stored inside, “but it’s looking like maybe some squatters were living in there,” White said. “I don’t know what would have caused it (the fire) right now, but it looks like we did have people living in it.”
No one was injured in the fire. White estimated it caused “maybe $10,000 or $20,000 in damages.”
Crews were still on the scene as of 9:30 a.m. to make sure no hot spots remained that could reignite the fire.
