UTAH COUNTY, March 6, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A one car accident turned into a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 15 Sunday as more people were summoned to the snowy scene.
“A car spun out into the wall, the parents of the driver stopped to help,” a Utah Highway Patrol Facebook statement says. “Their vehicle then got hit.
“The guy that hit the parents had his wife stop at the scene and then her vehicle got hit by a third crash.
“That third crash nearly hit the fire truck on scene and first responders.”
The UHP statement suggested drivers who have minor crashes ask themselves if they are OK, and can move safely the next exit.
“If the answer is yes, then move off and give us a call.
If the answer is no, then give us a call and stay put. Please don’t call others to the scene. Arrange to meet them off the freeway, we are more than happy to drive you to a safe location.”
The UHP statement also thanked the Pleasant Grove Fire Department “for being out there with us!”
And the PGFD thanked UHP right back in its own Facebook post.
“A real near-miss this morning,” the Pleasant Grove FD statement says. “Please slow down and move over for emergency vehicles, snow plows and anyone pulled off on the roadside. This could have very well been a tragic outcome.
“We are very grateful for the assistance of Utah Highway Patrol, American Fork Fire & Rescue and UDOT’s Incident Management Team.”
