Utah, March 17, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Highway Patrol troopers made 22 arrests Saturday night as part of a St. Patrick’s Day DUI blitz that will continue Sunday.
“We will report a final tally for the entire weekend tomorrow morning,” said a tweet from UHP Sunday morning.
“Raising a pint to celebrate #StPatricksDay?” UHP tweeted Saturday early evening. “Make sure you have plans for a safe and sober ride home. @UTHighwayPatrol has a DUI blitz tonight starting at 9 p.m.”
In total, UHP has added 75 evening shifts statewide this weekend to target impaired drivers.
In 2018, troopers made some 1,800 traffic stops as well as 38 DUI arrests during the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
