PAYSON, Utah, May 28, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) -- The Utah Highway Patrol has released more information after a crash Tuesday on Interstate 15 near Payson that killed the drivers of both vehicles.
Officials were alerted at 4:40 p.m. to the head on collision near milepost 250.
"For an unknown reason, the Kia went from the far right lane, across three lanes of traffic and through the median," a UHP news release says.
"In the median it went through the cable barrier, shearing it off. As the vehicle traveled over the cable barrier it became airborne and struck a green Jeep Gladiator that was traveling south on I-15 head on, killing both drivers immediately."
Neither driver was carrying passengers.
"Two other vehicles struck the debris and cable barrier," the release says. "No injuries were reported in those vehicles."
The names of the deceased have not yet been released.
